FrancoManie Is 2 Weeks Away: Your Prep Checklist

FrancoManie 2026 kicks off on Monday, October 26. That leaves two weeks to get your class ready, and most of it takes less time than a single lesson plan.
Here's a simple checklist, split by week, so the first matchup feels like a party and not a scramble.
Quick refresher: what is FrancoManie?
FrancoManie is a French music bracket created with the Manie Musicale founders. Eight songs face off head to head, your students vote, and the winner moves on until one song is crowned champion on November 13. Along the way, students can play song games on every video and compete with French classes around the world.

Week 1 (October 12 to 16): get to know the lineup
1. Preview the 8 songs
Watch each video once before your students do. You'll spot the vocab you want to pre-teach and the moments that will spark debate. Meet All 8 Songs has a quick guide to every artist and song.

2. Pick your version: free or Pro Teacher
The individual contest is free for every student. They can watch the translated videos, play the song games, and climb the leaderboard on their own.
With Pro Teacher, your classes also compete as teams on class and school leaderboards, and students unlock every lesson and game for each song. If you want that version, code FRANCO2026 takes 50% off Pro Teacher until October 26. See the plans.
3. Set up your classes
- Create a free Roxxem account or log in.
- Add your students. No student emails needed.
- If you have Pro Teacher, enter each class in the contest. Entries are final, so double check the class before you confirm.
Week 2 (October 19 to 23): build the hype
4. Run a "predict the champion" warm-up
Print the bracket or put it on the board and let students fill in their picks before they hear a single song. It takes five minutes, and suddenly everyone has a song to root for. Calling a matchup right also adds a 10% bonus on that video, so predictions count.

5. Pre-teach a handful of words
Pick five or six words from each opening matchup. A quick round of Vocab Harvest the week before means students walk into day one already catching words in the chorus.
6. Try a practice round with Season 1
Season 1 of Roxxem launched on October 12, and its new live modes are a fun way to warm up. Run a Co-op game on one of the FrancoManie songs: the whole class plays together to take down the boss (that's you). It's a low-pressure way to get students comfortable with the four song games before scores count. More on that in New Ways to Play Live.
Plan around National French Week
National French Week, organized by the AATF, runs November 4 to 10 this year, and music and dance get their own spotlight. That lines up with the FrancoManie semifinals (November 5 and 9) and the final (November 11).
A few ways to tie them together:
- Make semifinal day your music and dance day, with a vote, a song game, and a quick discussion about why each song made it this far.
- Invite another French class, or your school's announcements, to vote with you.
- Post your class bracket in the hallway and update it after every matchup.
Your daily routine once it starts
You don't need a full lesson every day. Many teachers keep it to a two-minute routine:
- Play a clip of each song in today's matchup.
- Students vote.
- Anyone who wants to boost the class score plays the song games in class or at home.
On days you have more time, the lyrics, games, and lessons for each song are ready to go.
