What is Locotubre 2025?
Welcome to Roxxem's Locotubre tournament, an exciting way to teach Spanish through music this October! In this post, we'll walk you through what Locotubre is, how to get started, and how to use Roxxem to make the most of this music tournament in your classroom.
What is Locotubre?
Locotubre is a 16-song music tournament created by Señor Ashby. Each day, two Spanish songs go head-to-head in a musical showdown, and your students get to decide the winner! They'll listen to the songs either in class or at home and vote for their favorite in a March Madness style bracket challenge. Locotubre is an excellent way to teach Spanish through music, letting students engage with real-world content while having fun.
You can make it as big or small as you want—whether you create full lesson plans around each song or keep it simple by playing just a few minutes before collecting votes. There's no wrong way to participate!

What is Roxxem's Locotubre Tournament?
Roxxem has partnered with Señor Ashby to create a Locotubre tournament in Roxxem during the same Locotubre dates, October 14th to November 8th. This skill-based tournament makes teaching Spanish through music even more engaging by turning the learning process into friendly competition. Students, classes, and teachers can compete to see who understands the songs best by playing Roxxem's interactive games.
Plus, there are some awesome prizes up for grabs! It's a deeper, more dynamic way to get your students involved in Locotubre songs and take your music-based lessons to the next level.
Okay, I'm in. What Can I Do to Prep Now for Roxxem's tournament?
Once you've signed up, here are a few ways to get ready:
Set up your classes: Register your students and create your class in just a couple of minutes. Share your unique class code or link so students can join seamlessly.
Plan your class time: Decide how much time you'd like to dedicate to Locotubre. You could play the Roxxem music videos each day, host live games each class, or assign individual song games or lyric lessons. All of these activities help you teach Spanish through music while making learning fun. Students can also participate on their own as homework, contributing to the overall classroom score with higher individual scores.
Start playing the songs in class: Get your students hyped by introducing the Locotubre playlist before the competition begins. Play a music video at the start of each class or keep the playlist running in the background. It's a great way to immerse them in Spanish through music from day one.
Use your Special Power - Stones of Destiny: For some extra fun before Round 1 kicks off, get your students involved in the Stones of Destiny, a pre-tournament challenge where they predict which songs will advance. Think of it like a “March Madness” style pick for which songs will win. Students can make up to four selections, and if their picks are correct, they'll score extra points for your class! Access your Stones of Destiny on the main tournament page and make sure you complete your predictions before October 24th.
With Roxxem and Locotubre, you have everything you need to teach Spanish through music and turn October into an exciting, music-filled adventure. Ready to get started? Click here to learn more and jump in!
