Locotubre 2025 Official Rules and FAQ

Hugo

The Roxxem Locotubre tournament is designed to engage students in a fun, interactive learning experience. These rules ensure fair play and a smooth experience for everyone involved. Please review the rules carefully before starting, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our team.

We're thrilled to have you join us and can't wait to see how your class participates.

New to Locotubre?

Read our quick guide on how to get started.

Does the Roxxem tournament follow Señor Ashby's Locotubre bracket and schedule? Are there multiple rounds?

Yes. Like the main tournament, there will be a bracket of 16 songs that face-off against each other in 4 rounds. The official Locotubre bracket is available here.

When does it mean for a song to become "active"?

Each song has a date in which it becomes "active" (following the official Locotube bracket). Scores for the tournament will only be counted once the song is active. Once a song activates, you can keep playing it until the tournament concludes.

How do song matches work?

The most popular song in each match will move on to the next round. You and your students can vote for their favorite songs on the official Locotubre voting page.

How does the point system work?

Individuals earn points by playing Whac-A-Word and Lyric Puzzle, with their highest scores from both games being tallied and averaged to create a "Song Score." Both live games and solo play contribute to the score.

To determine an individual's “Overall Tournament Score,” simply combine the Song Scores for all 16 Locotubre songs. The individuals with the highest Overall Tournament Score will be crowned the winners.

For classes, the Overall Tournament Score of each individual student in the class is averaged together to create a "Class Score". (With some adjustments--see below for details.) The class with the highest Class Score wins.

Can I win multiple prizes?

No, a single person or class can only win one prize.

What happens if there's a tie?

The prize will be split between the tied players.

Does playing Roxxem Live count toward the tournament?

Yes. Students must be logged into their accounts while playing.

Can I play each song and/or game multiple times?

During the duration of the tournament, you can play as many times as you want. Only your highest score will be counted, and the song must be currently active.

What's the class and school competition? How do I enter?

If you have a Roxxem Pro Teacher subscription, you can create classes for your students. Classes can compete with other classes around the world. This is separate from the individual competition, with bigger prizes.

You and your students will also be able to see a school leaderboard that is specific to the students and classes in your school. No prizes are awarded by Roxxem for this school-based competition. However, you may decide to award your own prizes.

You can enter your classes by going to the tournament page and pressing on the "Enter Class" button. To protect the integrity of the tournament, once you enter, your tournament entry cannot be changed. Please make sure all your students are in all your classes before you enter.

What if I enter the class and school competitions late?

Joining the tournament after it starts is no problem. Student scores that were previously recorded will be automatically added to your class score. However, to protect the integrity of the tournament, you can only enter once. Please make sure all your students are in all your classes before you enter.

How are class scores counted? What about larger vs. smaller classes?

Class Scores are based on the average score of all the valid students in the class at the time you entered the tournament. (If a student didn't do an activity, that counts as 0 points.) We then add a small bonus adjustment to large classes. There is a required minimum of 5 valid students per class.

What if a student joins or leaves a class?

To protect the integrity of the tournament, once you enter your classes into the tournament, your tournament entry cannot be changed. Students who join or leave your class will not affect your Tournament Class Entry. (However, you can still see updated rosters in your class and school leaderboards.) Please make sure all your students are in all your classes before you enter the tournament.

What if a student is in multiple classes?

Students should not be in multiple classes. If a student is in multiple classes, their score will only count towards one class, and the student will be removed from all other Tournament Class Entries.

If I make an assignment with a Locotubre song, do students earn points for the tournament?

Students will earn points if you assign one of the games (i.e. Whac-A-Word, etc.), but only if the song is currently active. Students will not earn points if you assign a Song Lesson.

Can I play or practice the songs before the tournament starts?

Yes. However, only scores recorded when a song is currently active count.
