Welcome to Roxxem's Locotubre coverage, an exciting way to teach Spanish through music this October! In this post, we'll walk you through what Locotubre is, how it works this year, and how to use Roxxem to make the most of it in your classroom.
What Is Locotubre?
Locotubre is a music tournament created by Señor Ashby, and this year it's bigger than ever: Locotubre 2026 features 22 different Spanish-speaking countries, each represented by one song, facing off in a bracket until a single country's song is crowned champion. It's the same March Madness-style format fans of Locotubre know, now with a global twist that's perfect for talking about the Spanish-speaking world as a whole, not just individual artists.
As always, you can make it as big or small as you want in your classroom. Build full lesson plans around each country's song, or keep it simple by playing a clip and collecting votes. There's no wrong way to participate.
How the 2026 Bracket Works
This year's bracket groups the 22 countries into eight opening matchups, each with two or three countries competing head-to-head. Winners advance through Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Final before a champion is announced.

What Level of Involvement? Free and Low Involvement.
Locotubre fits seamlessly into your classroom routine, however much time you want to give it. Play a country's song for a few minutes and take a class vote, or go deeper with lyrics, translations, and games for each one. Both are valid ways to participate, and you can adjust as the bracket narrows.

What Is Roxxem's Locotubre Tournament?
Alongside Señor Ashby's official bracket, Roxxem runs its own skill-based Locotubre tournament during the same window. Instead of just voting, students and classes play Roxxem's interactive games built around each song to rack up points, turning the tournament into a friendly, ongoing classroom competition on top of the bracket itself.
Playing individually is free for everyone. Teachers with a Roxxem Pro Teacher subscription can also unlock the classroom and school leaderboard, so classes can compete against each other directly.
Getting Your Classroom Ready
A few steps to have your class set up before Round 1 begins on October 13:
Create a free Roxxem account, or log in if you already have one.
Set up your class: register your students and share your class code, no individual emails required.
Decide your format: daily song plays, live in-class games, or independent practice at home all count toward your class's involvement.
Start listening early: many teachers play each country's song in the background during work time well before its matchup date, so students already have a favorite by the time voting opens.
